Banwell Bypass Survey

There is a Banwell Bypass Working Group meeting with North Somerset Council officers during the week beginning 17th May, at very short notice.  We need to know your concerns about the Banwell Bypass Scheme, and your suggested solutions. Banwell Bypass traffic from around 2,000 new houses will flow through our village from 2024

    3. What mitigation or solutions do you hope to get, to meet your concerns about the scheme?
__Note 1: At 30 mph 7% of people of all ages are killed in collisions, with 50% of over 60 year olds killed. At 20 mph, only 1% of all people are killed, with 5% of over 60 year olds. 20 mph residential streets are much safer
__Note 2: Village Gateways have been shown to reduce road traffic collisions by between 19% and 45% , these are made up of signs, placename, gateway type structure on either side of the road, lines, possibly slight road narrowing
__Note 3: The Banwell Bypass scheme has to show a ‘10% biodiversity net gain’ to make up for the destructive effect on plants and wildlife of the scheme. The scheme affects plants, wildlife, and rare bat foraging zones. A local ecologist has advised us provisionally on biodiversity net gain and mitigation measures
